Can someone please explain the difference /desirability between fcpga and fcpga-2
I am in the process of buying a new P4 processor and the vendors web site shows them listed as follows

Pentium 4 1.8GHz S478 Box

Pentium 4 1.8A S478 Box 512KB

When I look at the specs the only thing I can see is that one says fcpga-2 that is the one with 512 in the name.

Both of these are the same price so what is the best ? I thought that fcpga was only the socket type so how come both 478.

you want the Pentium 4 1.8A S478 Box 512KB as it has the 0.13 micron core & is a northwood variety!
btw both of those cpus are fcpga2 ones!

1.8A all the way! It runs cooler, has 512k of L2 cache (instead of 256k), costs the same, overclocks way higher (sometimes 2.4 GHz +), and is the new technology (.13 micron versus .18).
