I unintentionally purchased an Intel PIII 1GHz from a popular online vendor who was listed it as FC-PGA; when I saw a "customer comment" about this processor ACTUALLY being a FC-PGA2 processor I found the vendor had corrected its error but when I reviewed the info on my Retail Box processor (it obviously has not been opened nor installed in a system yet) I discovered I received a FC-PGA2.

This CPU is intended to be used as an upgrade in a system currently using a PIII 800MHz FC-PGA on an ASUS CUSL2 (Intel i-815e chipset).

I have been going in circles on Intel's website trying to find information on FC-PGA2.

Does anyone know anything about this processor and if it is compatible with mobos like the Asus Cusl2 with a Socket 370 interface and the Intel i-815e chipset????

Asus's site lists the mobo as being compatible with a "standard" FC-PGA Socket 370 PIII 1 GHz but no mention of FC-PGA2.

Any links or comments will be greatly apppreciated, Thanks!!!

An FC-PGA2 processor is defined as an FC-PGA processor with a heatspreader on top.

There is no other difference. This processor is compatible with your CUSL2.

This is NOT the same as an FC-PGA2 Tualatin.

Thanks Andy; I had found an "inference" to the FCPGA2 at Intel's site that DID mention something about a "integrated heatspreader" and NOT to use the CPU in certain Server configurations. Also, on the retail box itself, there is a note that this series is compatible in DP (dual processor) configurations although I have no intention to use it in such a situation.

Thanks WingnutPez and Andy!!!
