I had assumed Tualtin and FC-PGA2 were synonymous, yet if one looks here at the Intel S-spec info page, there is a cD0 stepping (coppermine) P3 @ 1000/133 that has the description "This processor is in the FC-PGA2 form factor with an Integrated Heat Spreader".
If you look at motherboard maker's websites, they list the newer "Tualtin compatible" (b-step) boards as being compatible with FC-PGA2, whereas older boards list only FC-PGA. Does this mean that this version of the P3 1ghz requires a Tualtin compatible board, or will it work in an older board, say Asus CUSL2 (not TUSL2) ?
slightly confused.... Is it the FC-PGA2 packaging or the Tualtin core that makes it incompatible with older boards and chipsets?
