FC-PGA P3 866EB on a CUSL2 reading 90 C on the Temp Mon!!!

I just installed my stock OEM Intel P3 866EB FC-PGA into my CUSL2 and it was beeping at me really loudly. The warning in the manual said the CPU was clocked too high and was overheating (it was running at 866) and when I looked in the hardware tab of the BIOS, it was reading 90C!!! The Motherboard was reading around 27C, so I think this reading is waaaaaaaay off. Anyone have experience with broken P3 temp monitors? Is it worth sending the chip back, or will it work fine? Thanks all!

Nice name as well ;-) I don't know about BIOS updates, I just put the thing together... If you have experience with this problem, I'd like to know where I can find a fix. I don't even have an OS or anything and it won't boot without beeping at me like hell. I'd just turn off the PC speaker, but I don't want to cook my CPU if it themp is right. 90C is outrageous right?

I highly doubt your CPU is that hot. I've heard of these problems with Asus before. Try touching the CPU, if it burns your finger :Q its too hot 🙂.

There should be an option in the bios that you can change the temperature that the bios alarm will go off. If your having problems, just up the temperature alarm.
