Read this crap.

Here comes "Big Brother" again. I hope hackers and programmers find a way to hurt or block out any of their tools. This is just wrong. That's a total invasion of privacy. I don't want the government sticking their foot in the internet. The last thing we need is for them to go mucking it up like they do everything else.

More about it:

I read about that a few weeks ago. The 'official' explanation is that it's nothing more than a wiretap, much like what is already done with a suspect's phone. What scares the crap out of me is that Carnivore is under the sole control of the FBI; the ISP has no contol over how and when it will be used. The NSA has been monitoring posts to message boards and newsgroups for some time, so it doesn't really surprise me.

While in priciple Carnivore may be a very useful law enforcement tool, the potential abuses are not worth it IMO. It's like wiretapping every phone in a neighborhood and ignoring every conversation but the suspect's. Who knows how the information will actually be used?

At least I know that my ISP doesn't have it installed yet :)
