Weismann was disbarred. When did this recording occur?

Edit. Read closer. He was disbarred after the recording.

The Attorney-Client privilege is like most other things: It has exceptions.

Does this particular case qualify for an exception? IDK, but I'd guess several judges will be having a look at it.

What I find most odd is the no gain part. How can you claim that you bribed someone to win a bid that you didn't even submit a bid on??? My main job is estimating and submitting bids and sometimes I have to submit bids on projects that I really don't want to win at any sort of competitive price but in order to keep getting invited you sorta have to submit a bid. I do the least possible amount of work on it to figure out the ballpark price and then double my price. If I were to get the job it would be worth it (I never have) and if I don't, good! I sure as hell ain't taking the architect to Ricks Cabaret and dropping a few grand on booze and lap dances.

December 30, 2014, Judge Irenas denied Sigelman’s motion to suppress the recordings as privileged, holding that communications are subject to the attorney-client privilege only if they occur for the purpose of obtaining legal advice. After reviewing the recorded conversations, Judge Irenas held that he could not find “a shred of indication that Weisman is there with the intention of giving legal advice to Sigelman, or the converse, that Sigelman was seeking legal advice from Weisman.”
