Hmm...while that's one way of looking at it, I'd think another, more productive option, rather than running away, would be to try and make a change for the better.

Hey have you considered N. Korea, I hear that they have a great climate, and I'll bet Lil Kim would love to hear how much you dislike US politics.

Yeah that's my second choice. Plus then I could threaten the world for fun and profit!

Ridiculous fearmongering.
I wouldn't doubt that terrorists do coordinate their plans online, so that much is accurate. Anecdotally, much of the evidence against the "Toronto 17" group of terrorists up here was gathered from a invite-only forum they were using. That end of things is pretty well documented.

Of course, tracking all of us based on this tiny, tiny percentage is crazy and an obvious infringement on our rights.

And before computers terrorists were communicating through written letters, yet opening someone else's mail is a felony.

Fearmongering? Yes. Ridiculous? No - it's the new standard of motivating taxpayers this adminstration has set.

Hey, this was pushed by a democrat.

Remember this in the upcoming elections.

Remember that this was proposed by a Democrat.

Remember that in the upcoming elections.

Both parties are pushing absurd scare tactics. Repubs are pushing the "outside threats" and the Dems are pushing the "Repub threats".

While I consider President Bush a well-meaning buffoon (I disagree with most of his policies and I'm a conservative). The Dems are no better because they aren't offering any solutions.

I'm well aware of the difficulties. I'm not expecting to just pack up one day and move.

Yeah, easy is the point. It's not that I don't give a crap about what happens, I've voted in every election since I've been able to. I just think there are too many stupid people being brainwashed by smooth talking politicians to make any sort of progress in the next few decades.

EDIT: in a system where the choice is between the lesser of two evils is not somewhere I'd like to be.

You should apologize for not putting this in Politics and News.

Also, I would like to requote the expression about people who want to lose freedom for safety yada, yada, yada, but I'm pretty sure you guys have heard it enough on AT.

Being very careful about how your network sends its DNS requests will help hedge against this.

On the other hand, Habeas Corpus was suspended yesterday, so this is really unnecessary since the administration can just send you to gitmo without the evidence this bill would give them :| :| :| :| :|

I'd be surprised if the ISPs don't already do something like this.

This is very old news.

I installed not only ISP tracking equipment but people tracking equipment over the last 6 years and still installing it.

Enjoy

Dave, if you are so morally opposed to what they are doing, why do you continue to help them do it? Surely it would be easier on your conscience to flip burgers at McDonalds.

I tell you what. If Mickey D's paid the bills I would flip burgers instead.

I am not opposed the Technology itself but the way in which it is nefariously used.

You're brain dead naive if you don't think Canada's politics isn't as BS as the US.

It's arguably worse up here. The majority of our political history is dominated by a single party which has taken to outright theivery and thinks it deserves to be in power merely because historically they almost always have been.

Another of the four major political parties at the federal level thinks that we should pull out of Afghanistan and sit down to negotiate with the Taliban.

Yet another of the four federal parties exists for the sole reason of advocating breaking off one province from the rest of the country and going indepedent.

It's not just the politics that worries me. The large standing army. The reservists being called into active duty. The hugely corrupt police force. peta. The list goes on. Although I suppose that the US has enough influence there to cross the border and grab someone if they really want to.

I think politics in general are bs. I'm pretty sure anywhere in the world has bs politics.

Maybe I just want the change in scenery :)

Well, if it does I'm defecting to Canada ASAP. and by defecting I mean sneaking across the border and working in some backwoods village for the rest of my life.
