The guy and his wife need to rot in jail as do the developers and anyone else that were funneling them the money to begin with.

Kudos to the local Fox station for making this about the crime and not the normal partisan politics. I didn't see that the guy was a Dem until the very end of the story. Good, solid reporting.

How do you think Lennar "won" all of the contracts to develop old military bases....
....see Nancy Pelosis nephew, Laurence Pelosi, president of acquisitions, Lennar.

This shit happens all of the time.

While I agree that it happens more than it ever should, that is still no excuse to turn a blind eye to it when it is discovered.

I've tried to think of some way for a politician's family members to still be able to be gainfully employed but not be given positions like you are describing that Pelosi's son has.

The only thing that I can come up with is that any company that has a relative that is closer than a 2nd cousin in a position where they can have a major affect on whether or not a company is awarded a government contract is either immediately removed from consideration or the relative must dismiss themselves from all negotiation processes and any other process that would reasonably be construed as a conflict of interest situation.

And if there is a nice little bonus awarded to the relative shortly after a contract is won, the contract is rescinded and the company and relative are fined. There are far too many other options for people out there than getting cozy jobs that they are barely qualified for because their last name is the same as some politician who will give the company millions of tax payer dollars simply because they gave their relative a cushy 6-7 figure salary.

The media should treat every instance of these cozy deals as though they were outright theft of taxpayer dollars (without actually saying so, of course). There should be enough heat on every one of these situations that those politicians' relatives would prefer to live under a bridge rather than get a job where government money gets funneled to their company.
