Slashdot reports that according to a recent weblog post, a San Francisco native had his house raided by the FBI last week, and 'lost upwards of 9 machines, and lots of misc equipment besides' in a seizure related to the theft of the Half-Life 2 source code from Valve Software.

I received a message in my inbox this morning from a company which I have Pre-Ordered HL2 saying that the release date was put back to the 24th September 2004...That is a long time away.

This is either a complete re-hash of the code/levels due to the theft of the code or it was never really ready to be released anyway... :(

I'm not sure exactly how the story goes, but didn't the guy who stole it have some vendetta against them? I heard he was upset that all the 'real physics' were scripted sequences that happened regardless of what was around them, etc...big stuff like that. They may be doing the game RIGHT, or re-doing a lot in the name of cheat prevention...and/or, it also just was not ready. From the blog, it didn't sound like THAT particular guy was involved.
