I have a USR 2977 OEM hardware internal PCI fax modem. This used to work fine in my Windows 2000 SP3 box and my Windows went belly up so I reformatted and installed this week (upgraded to SP4) and finally have things working AFAIK except that I can't get the modem to work. I hadn't touched the modem. Windows didn't pick it up so I added it, pointed Windows to the driver that it worked fine with before, and Windows says Device is working properly. But when I query the modem in it's properties/diagnostics tab, Windows says the modem isn't responding. I have another Windows 2000 SP3 box and it does the same thing when I configure it in that box. I mean, what's the chances that the modem just went bad? What can I try besides just buying another modem (which I am contemplating)? Thanks!
