Favorites display horriably slow in XP (any ideas why?)

Any idea why? All other menu's and such display just fine.. no delay at all when using them. But when I view my favorites there is a hideous delay in displaying them on the screen, and the same thing happens when I go into folders. This never happened before.. I have nothing running in the background either..


Any ideas?
 
try Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance Settings/Visual Effects and clear "Show shadows under menus". This solved my slow display. Good luck....
