After playing Feeding Frenzy on the XBLA sampler disc over Christmas, I purchased Feeding Frenzy 2. My wife and I really enjoy playing this together. This is something since the only other game she likes and will consider playing is Guitar Hero.

Feeding Frenzy is simple fun. You play as a fish. Eat the little fish while avoiding the big fish.

So what XBLA games do you like and why?

Puzzle Quest on the PC has been great and that would definitely be one I would get on arcade if I didn't already have it. Castle Crashers lost it's appeal incredibly quickly so I have a hard time recommending it, but it WAS fun playing through the game the first time.

I've gotten my money's worth out of Carcassonne.
I got Catan for free, didn't play it much back then, but just recently started and I'm really enjoying it.
Age of Booty is pretty good; a little short, but it has quite a lot of multiplayer maps (and you can make your own)
Marble Blast Ultra is a steal for $5.

I haven't bought the full version yet, but Braid looks pretty cool based on the demo. I purchased Worms right away since I had played various incarnations of it on other platforms (PC, DS).

Castle Crashers - I love everything about this game. I got tired of it before playing through as other characters (there's a ton of them), but not before I got all of the animal orbs and 90% of the weapons. The Hard Mode is ridiculously hard, if only because it takes so damn long to kill anyone.

Braid - Very creative and puzzling platformer. Only downside is it doesn't last very long and is expensive considering its brevity. Still worth checking out.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed - superb update of the classic NES game. I would love to see more classic games receive this treatment. Super Metroid HD anyone?

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - just a port from the PS1; I hadn't played it before and enjoyed it greatly. I'm a big fan of the Castlevania games for the DS which are essentially descendants of SOTN.

I really liked Carcassonne, but I got it for free so maybe that was part of it :).

Braid is really interesting too, but it is a bit pricey compared to most XBLA games.

Geometry Wars and the sequel are both good as well as Uno, Lumines and Every Extend Extra Extreme (E4) (but personally, I like Every Extend (E2) for the PC the most).

I've been playing the demos that came on my 360 (got it for Xmas) and I'll definitely be picking up Worms and Marble Blast Ultra for $5 each. May also get Doom, but I'm kinda disappointed that the graphics weren't updated.

I'd have gotten my money's worth out of Carcassonne if it was $60 instead of $10. That game still my biggest time waster to this day.

FWIW, Newegg has Arcade Unplugged for $13 shipped. It comes with 6 full XBLA games: Geometry Wars, Bejeweled 2, Wik, Outpost Kaloki X, Hardwood Backgammon, and Texas Hold 'Em.

Granted, even if you only liked 2 or 3 games, it's still cheaper than buying each game individually. For all 6, it's a steal. Just placed my order. :)

Do you need to put the disc in to play them or does it just have codes to DL them?

The primary appeal of these games to me is the fact that they're quick in/quick out. If I had to get up and put the disc in the tray I would definitely play them less frequently. Not entirely because I'm lazy, but because of the nature of the game.

You need the disc. I agree it's a little inconvenient but for the price I paid I'll just live with it.

Unfortunately, I think the games run off the disc. However, with the latest update that allows for installation to the HD, I'm not certain if the games can be installed to the HD.

I agree, though, that with the need for the disc, the appeal of the games is less. But for $13, I couldn't pass it up.

I threw together my favorite XBLA games list for my friends on my personal website last month. Check it out if you want, since I don't really want to copy and paste everything I typed. I counted them down from #10 to #1, then listed some honorable mentions.

#10 - #7
#6 - #4
#3 - #1
Honorable mention.
