So I'm taking a trip home for the weekend (~4.5hrs away) and this time I'm taking the train. It costs me more than if I drove, but it's just so much more relaxing, and I actually enjoy the train ride.

What's your prefered method of travel? I really enjoy driving too, flying is ok but it makes me nervous(ish)...

Good weather and down low in a plane.
Good weather and a nice convertible car, on backroads.

i can't believe i forgot to put motorcycle on there >_<

although, for trips that require longer stay, you really can't pack everything you need on a bike

Took amtrak once, with a private cabin. I actually liked it a lot.

A train on a scenic trip with a private cabin would be my preferred method.

That is if cruise ship isn't an option. ;)

True.

Which is why I voted that it depends on the distance.

Oh sure you can. The wife and I went on a 4 day 800 mile trip a few weeks ago and packed everything we needed on the Harley. Filled the saddle bags and a large Bag on the back .... plenty of room.
Of course trips outside the US, Canada or Mexico will require a plane.

I think it depends on where you're traveling and the time of year. I'm heading to upstate NY, which in the fall means days are 80 and nights are 40, so it requires extra clothing. If it was summer, i could fit everything into one saddle bag for sure
