Favorite underrated album?

Do you guys have a CD you think is amazing all the way through, but outside maybe 1 or 2 radio played songs you dont hear much about them?

I think Sever Mary Three's - American Standard album is great start to finish. The one with Combersome and Water's Edge on it.

Definately one of my all time fav CDs.

Go..

Well that's a tough one because I have to say about 90% of the stuff I listen to has never been played on the radio, or at least not on a station I am aware of. Really hard to determine what would be considered "underrated" in that scenario.

Not exactly underrated, but Downward Spiral (album) is so much more than just Closer/Hurt.

I'm with you.

You're so hip KT 😛

Haha, definitely not, just grew up on a diet of around 69% punk, 24% metal, and 7% hip-hop, the majority of which never made it to the radio and that has led me, for whatever reason, to continue listening to more obscure bands. I do listen to a lot more popular stuff now that I ever used to though; probably just due to laziness. :hmm:

Same. I don't really listen to stuff that gets played on popular radio.

Pavement - they had some airtime with "cut your hair" on the Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain album; however, all of their albums were great.

Same here...I listen A-Z: Abba to Zappa, HR/HM, Psychodelica, Disco, Italian - ever anyone heard of Antonella Ruggiero(Matia Bazar)?, french, russian - just listened to Al Di Meola/L.Agutin album....

Overrated or underrated? I don't care...
I've worked for a small Indie record Co. for a couple of years and I do know, what music business is about...

Many good bands weren't promoted properly - most likely, they are unknown...If you go to Record Shows, you can see LP albums people sell for 3, 4 or 5 digits price...
Go on ebay, you can see CDs from 80's, 90's going for a 100 or more $$$...people pay for not only how rare these are, but want to hear music they like - that never been on airplay and haven't been promoted by record co's...

Just for example...If there are any Megadeath fans, when Marty Friedman was playing? How many have they heard Cacophony's "Go Off" or "Speed Metal Symphony"? - these 2 albums can be considered Heavy Metal Classics...Underrated maybe...but who cares....

Hard Rock...Prolly, those, who live in Texas have listened to: Legs Diamond...Were they big in 77-79? But 1st 2 albums a MUST have for any Hard Rock fan...

There's a lot of good music...don't need to follow trends, airplay...etc...

LOL. I came in here to post that exact album. I can't stand Cumbersome or Water's Edge anymore, but the rest of the album is incredible. One of my all time fav's as well.

I Mother Earth - Scenery and Fish (one of my favorite albums of all time)
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light (one of their best releases IMO)
Silverchair - Frogstomp (mostly the whole band that are all but unknown anymore)
Alice in Chains unplugged - (so easy to listen through this whole thing...)

I guess some of these are not considered under-rated but you certainly don't hear people talking about them. A lot of people bash Frogstomp but I think it's a great CD especially for how young they were when it came out.
