This thread is for personal favorites of triva. You know, those bits that start with "Hey, did you know....?" It doesn't have to be incredibly obscure. It can be something that a number of people know but you still find interesting. I'll start off with one that created a huge uproar when it happened but people quickly forgot:
While we (the US) currently have 5 Great Lakes, that hasn't always been true. For 18 days in 1998, we had 6 as Lake Champlain was added to the group via a line snuck onto a Bill and signed into effect by President Clinton. Its status was quickly rescinded after a small public uproar.
