Lately I've been listening to AM talk show radio instead of FM music stations. They don't play the same thing hour after hour after hour (except weather reports ;)) and I think that it is actually educational, and entertaining at the same time.

I mainly tune into a local talk radio station that carries Mike Gallagher in the mornings, Rush in the mid day, Sean Hannity in the late afternoons, and Bruce Williams in the evening.

Others out there (that I'm familiar with) are Madcow, Stern, O'Riely, Tom Lekis, and I'm sure a few other big names that I'm missing.

I really find myself looking forward to Hannity and Bruce Williams, but for different reasons. I really like the way Hannity handles political issues, and I've learned quite a bit of oddball advice from Bruce. I'm not too big of a fan of Gallagher, and really, really don't like Rush.

Can't we just have Walt Williams take over full time for Rush? ;)

So, what's your radio talk show of choice?

The only talk I listen to with any regularity is Howard Stern. When I lived in the D.C. area I listened to Liddy and Don & Mike as well.

Not much talk going on when I go into work at 5am in Dallas. I pretty much ride in silence or play MP3's. Stern comes on at 6am but his show has really gone down hill if you ask me. I have not listened regularly in years. Well since college and I graduated in 1995.

However, Russ Martin (Dallas local show) on the way home in the late afternoon is sometimes entertaining. I have just about ditched the car a few times from laughter.

I listen to all that I can. Quit watching tv because of talk radio. Theater of the mind is infinitely better then tv network dribble. Here on the west coast I listen to Bill Wattenburg on the weekends, Berny Ward and Gene Burns and Kristine Craft during the week days. With a little Rush when I have the time and ArtBell for fun. Mark Davis is good too. Always look forward to them..

Gretchen Helfrich of Odyssey... I like shows that handle a wide range of issues and attempt at least some degree of objectivity.

That's why my absolute favorite is Milt Rosenberg This guy talks to everyone from Gen. Powell to Salman Rushdie... He's a phenomenal interviewer though he does have and will admit to an academic bias....

I've taken some time off from talk radio and listen to NPR most of the time.

But I used to listen to Bill Handel in the mornings (KFI AM 640 in LA) and Phil Hendrie in the evenings.

Mancow in the morning. Dr Drew & Adam at night. Overall though, Drew and Adam get the nod.

I listen mostly to sports radio, local shows mostly so nobody anybody here would have probably heard of. I'll occassionally listen to Jim Rome although I think his show is rather boring by most sports show standards. The whole "clones" and "takes" (where you call in and just go through some prearranged, attitude-infested spiel you've prepared) is moronic to me. I like shows where the host doesn't consider himself completely above his callers and actually interacts (i.e., has a conversation with) his callers. Of course, this means the host opens themselves up to be exposed and possibly made to look stupid. Maybe that's why Rome doesn't do it. He gets great guests though which is why I listen.

I don't listen to political shows much any more. I did like Neal Boortz's show when they used to carry it here. But it has since been canned for Liddy whom I personally don't think is anywhere near as interesting or smart. So sports and CDs is pretty much all I listen to anymore.

Rome's hilarious...I like how he just makes fun of everyone and everything. I hate how he kisses almost all his guest's asses tho...

We have a really good local station here that just started up - with a demographic of 20-30 year olds, so it's pretty cool.... Some very funny stuff on there. (Madison, WI)

At night they play Tom Leykis - who just talks about getting laid as much as possible for the least amount of money, and avoiding committment as much as possible.

Sweet.

What station is that? I go to Madison quite often. I usually listed to 94.1 WJJO though.

The station is WTDY, 1670 AM - they also have a "mirror" of the station at 1480 AM as well.

The station has a site, WTDY.com where you can listen online. Right now Bill O'Reily is on - the cool, funny guy, Chris Krok, is on from 9am-12pm I believe, and Jason Meyers, another cool guy, is on from 2pm-6pm.

It's cool listening to those guys because everything they talk about isn't somehow related to politics, which gets really really old really really fast.

(I used to be a diehard WJJO fan, but got tired of the repeating songs nonstop. Switched for the same reason you did!)
