Favorite Game Lines

The line that sticks in my head all the time is "The sqeaky wheel gets the kick!" from Minsc in BG. I have played maybe 5-6 hours of that game, and not for a while, but that line stays in my head since I hear him say it so often.

I don't find it a particularly good line, but everytime I try to think of memorable lines when I read this thread, that line keeps going through my head.

Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne is infinitely quotable, but to distill it down to one or two bits:

"The genius of the hole: no matter how much time you spend climbing out, you can still fall back down in an instant."

and, perhaps more importantly,

"I was compelled to give Vlad his gun back......one bullet at a time."

Max Payen (1 and 2) had a lot of great quotes.

"Life was good. A house on the Jersey side across the river. The smell of freshly cut lawns. The sounds of children playing. A beautiful wife and a baby girl. The American dream come true. But dreams have a nasty habit of going bad when you're not looking."

"I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings."

"I walked straight in, playing it Bogart, like I'd done a hundred times before."

"Death is inevitable. Our fear of it makes us play safe, blocks out emotion. It's a losing game. Without passion you are already dead."

"All this time we got the fable of Sleeping Beauty wrong. The prince didn't kiss her to wake her up. No one who slept for a hundred years is likely to wake up. It was the other way round. He kisses her to wake himself up from the nightmare that has brought him there."

The best game ever made, IMHO:

Planescape: Torment

Same Game, from the old lady near the dead wall:

"I'll bet ye've got all *sorts* o' barmy questions!" She mimics your heroic stance: "Greetin's, I have some questions... can ye tell me about this place? Who's the Lady o' Pain? I'm lookin' fer the Magic Girdle o' Swank Iron, have ye seen it? Do ye know where a portal ta the 2,817th Plane o' the Abyss might be? Do ye know where the Holy Flamin' Frost-Brand Gronk-Slayin' Vorpal Hammer o' Woundin' an' Returnin' an' Shootin'-Lightnin'-Out-Yer-Bum is?" She spits. "Dung, all o' it! Only gets ye in the Dead-Book!

<rofl>

So many, but one has always stood out for me. It's the Librarian from Dawn of War when he says:

"I will destroy their minds and burn their bodies."

It's said so reserved and calmly it comes across as the ultimate badass quote.

"Death or healing, I care no which one you seek." by the Apothecary is pretty sweet too.
