What was yours and where is it now?

I had a Sony CLIÉ N760C in my early years of college. One of the first PDAs with a high res (320x320) color screen. I thought it was real slick looking. I would sync it up with AvantGo each morning and re-encode a few MP3s to a lower bitrate so I could fit more of them on the 64MB Memory Stick I had. It helped me kill so much time before and during class.

I screen cracked one day while I had it in my backpack. Soon after the backlight stopped working and I think I upgraded to an NX60 which was much sturdier with a larger screen, but I don't recall ever being as fond of it. I think I sold the N760C on FS/FT here.

I had a TI-86 graphic calculator in high school. Used to play all sorts of games on it, few RPGs, Super Mario, etc. Never did figure out why I pulled a D in the math courses though.

My Favorite gadget of all time is the Barnes and Noble Nook/Amazon Kindle. This just has to be one of the best inventions ever! I mean... You have a LIBRARY of never ending, FREE knowledge with you everywhere you go, and you can not only read, but listen to it as well! This is AMAZING! I just wish these things had much larger screens, and were much cheaper, but hey, give it a few years, and I'm sure it will happen... already, here in NYC, there are plenty of people on the train with these devices. Because of the increasing demand, manufacturers will have to respond with bigger, better models.

My 2nd favorite gadget is the Sony PSP (Hacked). This must be one of the best, if not the best emulator platforms available. I can play all those SEGA, SNES, Neo-Geo, GBA, games on a large, beautiful screen with perfect sound an speed, not only that, but I can watch movies, and listen to music. Nintendo DS is a close rival, but it's less powerful and screen is much smaller. Then again, it's got POKEMON! ; )

Dell Axim X51v. Doing what most smartphones can do now in 2005 (besides the whole being a phone thing). Bluetooth tethered to my cellphone, browsing the internet on the bus, watching movies off the network, streaming radio over 2G, NES Roms...was by far one of the best purchases I've ever made...still use today as a GPS when I'm on the continental US (not much need for street GPS in Hawaii).

TV Remote? I guess everyone is young enough that they never had to get up to change the channel every time. No channel surfing in those days.

The original Nintendo Entertainment System is my favorite gadget of all time.

Now I just use Jnes to play those games when I get the urge, but when I was a kid.. I was glued to that thing. Megaman 3 FTW.

What do you mean "give it a few years"? Kindle has had the DX out for a while now and that has a much larger 10" screen.

no i remember those days, TV the size of a small refrigerator fully enclosed in wood. you either had dials that went from 1-13 or you got a "cable box" with a slider that went to IDK 40

I still have a TV like that. Hitachi portable from the early 80s. My grandma still has a box in her basement for one of the early remotes. Huge thing that attached to the TV with a long cable. Wood grain finish of course. Had pushbuttons for 1-13. Unfortunately the remote itself is long gone.

My iPhone 3G is probably my favourite gadget I've owned. Wasn't too long ago that an affordable device that small with full internet didn't exist. It's closely followed by my PSP and my Gameboy Pocket.

TI-89 calculator. Amazing little machine.

Does anyone know of any good Math software for a smartphone? By good, I mean on the same level as the TI-89 software, or better (like MATLAB). I haven't looked into it much. I'm on the market for phones so I don't have a preference towards Android or iOS.

There's a few graphing calculator apps for iOS. Just search iTunes.

I'm not just looking for an app with graphing capability. More along the lines of being able to work with symbols, equation solving, differentiation and integration. I've searched iTunes before, and the apps back then did not have these features.

Anyway, now that I think about it, I probably wouldn't have much use for an app that does heavy math calculations. The times where I would need that, I'd end up just using actual computer math software like Mathcad/Matlab.

Mine has to be my Droid Eris. I know it's low-end, but it was first smartphone/pda that worked the way I wanted it too. I use it for EVERYTHING. I even named it Jeeves. That said I'm Droid X bound soon. I guess before this it was my Sony SLR-like camera.

Word.

I still have mine and it still works perfectly (although the gray-bordered plastic cover over the screen needs to be re-glued). I dropped it dozens of times as a kid. That thing is a tank.

Both of my original GameBoys (one of which I got for my 8th birthday) no longer work because of bad battery contacts. The batteries just don't want to stay in place anymore. Otherwise they'd be fine.

I have a couple of GameBoy Pockets that work though. Well, my brother does in a storage bin somewhere.
