Favoring teams in international competition (e.g. olympics/world cup) make sense because there's actrually nationalism involved. (not that it's a good thing, but it is human psychology).

The players aren't from your state anyway. And most likely you weren't born in that state either. And there's no "stateism" like there's "nationalism." So why does it matter if a city has a better team?

so there is no such thing as pride in one's state, or city, but there is in one's country, because a word ("nationalism") exist for such a thing?
you make as much sense as a tennis helmet

I haven't really had a favorite team since Joe Montana left the 49ers, but I like the Patriots and I've followed the Jets, Jaguars, and Vikings just to see how a few fellow Marshall alumni are doing. Guess I'll have to change Vikings to Raiders now.

I'm talking about the fact that the concept of nationalism down to the state/city level doesn't exist in real life.
