Im of the opinion that the best music never makes it big, for one reason or another, thus the reason for this thread. Post some of your favorite lesser-knowns, and even relative unknowns.

Heres a few of mine:
Chasing Gray
Braid
Hey Mercedes

You get the idea. Now YOU try! ;)

I know and love Blind Guardian. Noldor is simply an awesome song.

My additions are:

Zao
Nile
Extol
Tourniquet
Exhumed
Carcass
Strapping Young Lad
Crutch
Training for Utopia
Converge
Dimmu Borgir
RnwB (my friends' band- they are pretty good too)

Oh, and if anyone can find music that is harder than Nile and Dimmu Borgir, I will give them my computer.

Hey, Mwilding, just looked up your profile -- knew you couldn't live too far from Philly!

I guess this all depends on your definition of obscurity. How about:

Spyro Gyra

Lothar and the Hand People

Butthole Surfers

The Incredible String Band

Holy Modal Rounders

The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band

All of the above, except Lothar and the Hand People (a Philly area psychedelic band from the '60's), had national/international success, but who here has actually heard of them, I wonder. Speak up, don't be shy, I'm curious and on a full tilt nostalgia binge today.
