My list:

Tom Hanks - really, every movie he does is pretty good.
Gary Sinise
Christian Bale - just saw The Prestige last night.
Edward Norton
Kevin Spacey
Ian McKellen
Christopher Lee
Michael Caine - watch Quills, you'll see what I mean.

Scarlett Johansson - I loved Lost in Translation.
Charlize Theron
Keira Knightley
Kate Winslet - except for Titanic, that was horrible.
Annette Bening
Emma Thompson
Cate Blanchett

Heh, I seem to have a decidedly English/British leaning.... interesting....

Nice, yeah, I like Elijah Wood's roles for the most part... definitely weird to see him as the bad guy in Sin City.

Good list. I truly love Kate Winslet. And Titanic is not a horrible movie.

I'd add Dicaprio to the list. And I'll watch any movie where Morgan Freeman plays a pivotal role (he seems to have phoned-in parts in half-a-dozen movies every year). Jake Gyllenhaal (October Sky, Donnie Darko, Zodiac) and Clive Owen (Closer, Sin City, Children of Men) seem to have lots of potential.

Forgot about Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Torro - the principal cast of 21 Grams, one of my all-time favorites.

without a doubt I will watching anything Jennifer Connelly is in.

As for male actors - this choice was harder but I'd have to go with Johnny Depp

Did you see Lady Killers? even though I worship the Coens, that movie was major fail. I do wish he'd do more comedy, b/c he's brilliant at it. Much more difficult than Drama.
Gary Sinise
Christian Bale - just saw The Prestige last night.
No complaints here
Edward Norton
Death to Smootchy?
Kevin Spacey
K-Pac?

Scarlett Johansson - I loved Lost in Translation.
Love her too. But The Island? yikes! Check out Ghost World and the Man Who Wasn't There, before she hit it big.
Charlize Theron
Keira Knightley
Kate Winslet - except for Titanic, that was horrible.
Annette Bening
Emma Thompson
Cate Blanchett
Can't complain here

I'd have to throw out Robert Duvall and DeNiro (yeah he's been in some bad movies...but he's been good in them. Hard to criticize his choices after the career he's had.)

I'd like to throw out DiCaprio, and agree with Del Toro and Depp. D D Lewis, of course.

I think you mean K-PAX. Have you seen it? I liked it quite a bit, and Spacey's performance is brilliant as usual. I'd agree that it's not a movie for everyone though.

Joaquin Phoenix is amazing.
i'd say Jamie Foxx for Ray, Jarhead, and the Kingdom.
But he should have passed on Miami Vice.

Titanic was a super sappy love story, but considering that, it was good. And Kate and Leonardo were both very good in it.
