Faulty PSU or something else?

Last night my computer suddenly shut off, and when I tried to turn it back on, it would instantly shut off after 1-2 seconds of on time.
Early this morning the power finally works but when I start it up there's a blank screen on my monitor, and no POST beeps or anything. I can't even turn it off once its turned on via the power button, I had to flip the power switch on the back off.
So is this a PSU problem or something else?

Sounds like a PSu problem and something else. A list of system specs will help to figure things out. But it sounds like the PSU died. But with you trying to get it back up and going again it may have damaged the motherboard if it didn't do so when it first crashed. But you really won't know till you get another PSU and try it out.

But in the future when a system suddely turns off there is a power issue of some sort. Either you lost power or you lost the PSU.

If it did damage my mobo, would the PSU company be liable for it if the PSU is still under warranty?

Hard to prove it. Technicly yes they are liable but there is no way to prove it so all they will do for you is replace the PSU. For the most part there hase to be something extremely wrong with the PSU for it to damage system components now days. They all are required to have fail safes installed.
