Faulty Gpu or Faulty monitor?

I have a problem where my monitor comes on at its own will.

Cant figure if this is a mobo issue inside the monitor or something to do with the GPU?

The PC is off when this happens.

If the PC is off (not just asleep but actually turned off), there is no chance that the graphics card or any other component is source of the problem.

As always, it can help if you provide a detailed description of your problem. What is the monitor make/model? Is this a new problem or something you've just ignored thus far? How old is the monitor? Did you change anything in your setup or in the environment before the problem started happening? What precisely happens when the monitor turns on? Does it power on just as if you had pressed the monitor's power button?
