"Faulty Checksum" Error on PC133?

Hi there,

I recently got a stick of generic PC133. I've tried 3 different programs to get some ID or info on it: SiSoft Sandras's DIMM tester, DIMM_ID and the DIMM Spd plugin for Motherboard Monitor 4. Sandra can't give me any info, but just states the there is a Faulty Checksum Error, or SPD Missing. MBM4 also says checksum = faulty, but is able to give me info anyway.

Can anyone explain what checksum is, and what the error message means? I'm considering returning the RAM but I'd like to go back informed.

Thanks a lot
