I've had this problem for a long time and I finally feel like fixing it. The faucet doesn't exactly leak. When I turn the handle off completely, faces straight left or right, the water runs. When I leave it at an angle the water stops. It's annoying cause I always have to leave the handle at the right angle.

The O-rings seem fine, but the cartridge does seem really old. I have no idea how to fix this.

faucet brand? single handle?

if it happens to be a moen single handle, you can replace the entire valve cartridge. Costs about 15-20 bucks and you can find them at home depot or lowe's.

Best thing you can do is to remove the valve mechanism, (whatever that is) and take it to HD, Lowes, or a good hardware store, match it up and buy a new one. This is the only way to repair this leak

If it has a rubber washer (bibb washer) to control the water flow, the screw holding it in place might be loose or rusted and gone. Bibb washers are about 45 cents each.
If you plan to live there a long time, you can get a neoprene anti-rotate washer instead and it will last longer and give better service.

I'll have to check again later if it has that.
