Jan. 28 ? Fatty, fried foods such as potato chips and fries may contain a substance that can cause cancer in animals but the levels are not high enough to increase the risk of the disease in humans, researchers said on Tuesday. Swedish scientists sparked a worldwide food scare last year when they found high levels of acrylamide, a possible human carcinogen, in high carbohydrate foods including crackers, certain cereals and cooked potatoes.

World-wide food scare my ass. I think everyone's response to "X may cause cancer!!!" now is: *yawn* Wha? Oh yeah, thanks, pass a few of those my way please.

I'm 100% certain that tap water causes cancer in lab rats. Life kills you, no way around that.

My roomate made a couple comments about not eating french fries and chips once, I just laughed.
I seriously don't know anyone that really changed their diet after hearing the news a year ago.

I'm still waiting for us to reach the point of Woody Allen's movie "Sleeper".

For those that don't know, Woody Allen's character was a loser in the 70s who ran a health food store and mainly ate tofu and the like. He was somehow cryogenically frozen and woke up hundreds of years in the future. When he sat down to his first meal he was served steak and eggs. He acted appalled but was told that nutritional science from his time had it all wrong and that red meat and eggs was very healthy for you. :D
