After being informed that his 20- year-old son was killed while serving in Iraq, a Florida man doused a U.S. government van with gasoline and set it on fire while sitting inside.

Very sad situation. :shocked::frown:

Uh, yes it does mean it's not a repost.

Many here do not venture into OT and vice versa.

I almost asked what OT was. :D Truth be known, I've never been in there. Anyway....
This is one of those stories that makes me want to punch something or scream. Damn.

I'm still a touch confused based on the information provided. Did this guy intend to kill himself or did he miscalculate how fast the fire would spread?

Saw it on my local station and from what they said, he was going to kill himself. Set the van on fire and then got in. Marines that were there telling him about his son pulled him out and put out the flames on the man. Poor guy.

I don't condone his actions at all but I can't even imagine what he went through at that exact moment and what he's going through now.

Only someone who has lost a child can fully understand what this guy did. Trying to analyze it in some structured way does no good. I'm sure the pointlessness of the circumstances under which his son died only adds to his anguish. All IMO of course.
