Do you agree with PJ's defenses of Mark Foley? Do you agree, in the context of this thread, that Katie Couric "went crazy"? For whatever reason P&N sees several new radically conservative, low-quality posters every year, most of whom end up burning out and disappearing without a ban. PJ is just one more in that tradition IMO.

Foley has nothing to do with this thread. Who cares if the context of his thread is right or not? Edit: Ooops my bad - it's in the subject sub - and no, I don't think Couric went crazy. No more misleading than Dave's 50,000 misleading posts...

I haven't seen PJ attack anyone, but he's been personally attacked relentlessly - even by you! You want a list of crappy left wing posters? I count no less than 9 in this very thread!  Unfortunately they don't burn out, and they certainly don't get banned.

Some say we try diplomacy. Tell me, how do we negotiate with people whose starting point is our death? Ask them to wait for 10 years, before they kill us? When Good negotiates with Evil, Evil will always wins.

And peace follows victory, not words issued by diplomats.

Unfortunately, some Americans are not interested in victory. And they want us to believe that their irresponsible behavior is Patriotic. Well, it's not.

When the critics are more interested in punishing this country over a relatively few incidents at Abu Grahib and Guantanimo than they are in defeating those who want to kill us; when they seek to destroy a foreign surveillance program which is designed to identify those who want to kill us and how they intend to do it; when they want to grant those who want to kill us U.S. constitutional rights, I don't call that patriotic.

Patriotism is rallying behind the country, regardless of party affiliation, to defeat Islamo-Fascism. Patriotism is supporting our troops on the battlefield, not undermining the mission and morale.

But let there be no doubt about this. America will prevail. We are the same America that survived a massively bloody Civil War, defeated the Nazis, and the Soviet Union. Each generation has a responsibility to the next. Our generation won't disappoint.

Hey, Zendari - can you do more than post more quotes?

At least Zendari and the Prof post quotes that back up there assertions ; instead of just an opinion based on nothing more than words!!

I don't come around here much anymore Don for a number of reasons. I'm going to have to weigh in against the majority around here. Alchemize is right. PJ gets personally attacked for posting his opinions more than the reverse. I don't agree with all he says, but then again there are a lot of people here regardless of political stripe that I don't agree with. I frequent another board that is virtually the opposite, filled with Bush supporters. I have to contend with some personal attacks and lack of logic. Well that may be my choice, but when they attack me they lose credibility in not being able to refute with some veneer of courtesy and more because they can't come back with a reasoned reply. Shoot the messenger. So be it. PJs posts are no better or worse than many from the opposite side of the political fence. It's Darwinism in action, or perhaps more of a "Lord of the Flies" scenario at both places. Frankly it doesn't recommend either site.

I totally agree with this CBS posting quoted above by ProfJohn. If that places me in one of his evil classes of thought, so be it.

my 2 cents...

Can someone show me where KC went 'crazy'? I thought her response was very neutral and well-stated.

I feel bad for the guy whose son died in the Columbine shooting, but he's clearly a bit extreme in his religous-centric views. I have 3 children in school, and while they may not say prayers every morning, to say that schools aren't teach right from wrong is completely off-base, and to say that suicide is acceptable in any way, shape, or form, is also way off base.

I don't think this most recent shooting or the shooting in Colorado a few weeks ago have anything to do with Columbine. If/when there are school shootings done by students, then yes, I see a Columbine connection, but these two recent events are sex crimes, or attempted sex crimes.

If you want to take something away from these recent events, how about focusing on the lenient punishment for sexual offenses against minors, compared to punishments for drug related offenses?

for someone to try and put a left/right spin in Couric's comments, that tells me that you pretty much look at everything as a left/right issue, when there is no need for that sort of division.

Good to see that others are observing the same phenomenon at work (alchemize, Hayabusa Rider).

I've not seen ProfJohn launch a single personal attack yet on these forums, yet he's been continually harrassed by other forum members who pay no heed to the actual topic of the thread. No doubt the idea is to gradually anger the guy into making a few vitriolic posts at which point he'll no doubt get banned while the instigators continue to keep their posting privileges here, as we've seen happen at least five times previously.

On topic: Mark Foley is a whackjob, but certainly entitled to his illogical views.

Go to general hardware and search my name, first post was around 7-28 asking a computer question, over the next month I asked many questions before finally buying my nice new Gateway, that was why I joined this lovely site.
Then around August 28 or so I made my first post in P&N, you can search for that too.

So if I am some crazy guy back from the dead why spend a month asking computer questions before coming in here?

BTW: nothing I post is any worse than Harvey, Dave, straighttalker, Duhanan and that I.C.M. guy. So why all the hatred pointed at me? Anyone care to answer?

oh... while I am at it, I am not being paid to post here either, as I pointed out the other day the most recent thread with a lot of view sits at just over a 1000 views, why would anyone pay someone to post as much as I do in order to hit a couple of hundred people?

Let's see... you post something saying "And the lefties, including Couric, go crazy" when no one went crazy whatsoever... that's a start.

The thing is, this entire thread is one collossal troll IMO, particularly the (completely unsupported) implication that Katie Couric "went crazy," when she did nothing of the kind. To the extent he's been attacked for that, I feel it was well deserved. Similarly, his dissembling on the subject of Mark Foley needs to be pointed out IMO.

FWIW, I don't share Mr. Rohrbaugh's views, but I think he certainly has every right to air them. I think they are the by-product of his tremendous pain, coupled with the fact that the real wrongdoers here are a) dead; and b) still shrouded in mystery for the most part. I don't personally like Katie Couric, but if anything I think she showed some courage and open-mindedness in broadcasting Mr. Rohrbaugh's message.

Because this board is collectively leftist...the vast majority of convservative posters were banned for quite questionable reasons, yet there has never been one single prominent leftist poster banned (edit: well one, but he came back under a new ISP, I even proved beyond a reasonable doubt who he was. Umbrella39 nor anyone else took any umbrage at that of course, partisans one and all). I think myself and Corn are the only ones left standing, and that's cause we have polaroids of the mods ;)

How about bogus post titles... "And the lefties, including Couric, go crazy"... This is inflammatory and completely untrue from everything he posted.. just posted to try to antagonize people with a misleading and blatantly false topic title.

She didn't even have to interview the guy.. She gave him millions of viewers so he could tell us all we are living in sin and destroying the whole world etc. etc.. Surely CBS tries to profile their guests before they accept to interview them.. eh.. but now she is crazy for speaking rationally..

Maybe the prof is used to having others dictate exactly what and how he should feel and think - Hannity, Limbaugh <<whom he quoted earlier yesterday)) rumsfeld etc. etc.

It's not a troll. It's an unpopular point of view on these forums. As I stated previously (well, I mistakenly wrote Foley in there because I was just reading a thread about him), I think that Mr. Rohrbaugh's views are silly in the extreme. But I'm unemotional enough about my political views to realize that ProfJohn gets massively attacked solely because he's in the minority and the bunch of screwballs who makes up the majority here sense the opportunity to pile on and squeeze him out. I despise that sort of behaviour.

I never use the word "lefties" unless it's in quotes, mostly because associating the left with the people who post in this forum area is a grave disparagement to real liberals. And I've never watched Ms. Couric on TV in my life. Other than to state that I disagree with Mr. Rohrbaugh, my point is you people are getting carried away in attacking the person instead of the opinion.

I see a lot of the usual Republican method of pointing fingers all over the place, except for at themselves. Take it up with Dave. I personally think that bringing him into a thread he's not even participating in to be a ban-able offense. But I don't own the Site. In any case, try to stay focused. Comment on the thread. I'd still like to see evidence that Couric "went nuts".

Hey look, another leftie calling for a ban (for me I assume, this time)! Quickly covers for himself by going "back on topic".

So, uh, maybe it is his opinion?

FWIW, I don't share Mr. Rohrbaugh's views, but I think he certainly has every right to air them. I think they are the by-product of his tremendous pain, coupled with the fact that the real wrongdoers here are a) dead; and b) still shrouded in mystery for the most part. I don't personally like Katie Couric, but if anything I think she showed some courage and open-mindedness in broadcasting Mr. Rohrbaugh's message.

Just to be clear, the reason this is a troll is that the entire premise of the thread (that "lefties," including Katie Couric "went crazy" over Rohrbaugh's comments) is completely false. ProfJohn is, IMHO, a poor member with a propensity for dissembling (as he has done in this very thread). That, not his politics, is the reason I'm not a fan. I have been having civil discussions with conservative members of this board for years now - ProfJohn is just a trolling Johnny-come-lately as far as I can see.

repugnant:
1. distasteful, objectionable, or offensive:

That is Katie's implication, not that of her views, or else she would have said so.

No there isn't.

From dictionary.com:

Offensive:
3. repugnant to the moral sense, good taste, or the like; insulting.

For crying out loud, offensive is even LISTED in your definition of repugnant. They mean the same thing - you don't like whatever it is that you find offensive/repugnant. You're making mountains out of molehills.

wait...so he is blaming the lack of "morals" in society due to evolution?

Morals have existed wit.hout God, and they will continue to exist without God. I think these very fundamental type of morals are part of a core that God has which is included in every one of us. No culture thinks killing your neighbor is right, no one RELISHES death.
With that said, quite a bit of morals IS relative. Human interaction has changed over the years, and people's perceptions of right and wrong HAS changed...save for that few things that always hold constant.

To say someting more religious, The lack of God in schools will never erase God in our hearts simply because we all hold a few key values that are the same..

edit:

and someting such as learning about evolution, or playing Quake 3 does not erase that or even attempt to strach off the surface of the idea that is embedded within us

Um, whoever "you" are, you are far more important in your own mind than in reality. Pfffft. *waves hand dismissively. Go ahead and drag posters that aren't even in a thread into the thread. It makes you seem smart. Or, something.

Nice to see you going for your old record of 1000 post in 3 months time PJ. One of these accounts err times, you'll get it right. It's amazing that someone who has posted so many times over the years has so little to say. Here's to your next permaban
Is this the best you guys can do? Call me somebody I have never heard of? How many times do I need to prove to you I am not some banned person come back to life?
I'm going to put this in my sig.... sheeeesh

Because this board is collectively leftist...the vast majority of convservative posters were banned for quite questionable reasons, yet there has never been one single prominent leftist poster banned (edit: well one, but he came back under a new ISP, I even proved beyond a reasonable doubt who he was. Umbrella39 nor anyone else took any umbrage at that of course, partisans one and all). I think myself and Corn are the only ones left standing, and that's cause we have polaroids of the mods ;)

So folks like umbrella think they can pile on and try to get another ban in. You are the current target, because you are posting a lot of things they don't want to read. See, they love free speech, as long as it's a like-minded circle jerk.

How about bogus post titles... "And the lefties, including Couric, go crazy"... This is inflammatory and completely untrue from everything he posted.. just posted to try to antagonize people with a misleading and blatantly false topic title.

How about them? The mods have set the standard by tolerating Dave's endless troll posts...and funny, but I never see anything from you and the rest of your partisan crew on those. Like I said...you all love free speech, as long as it's a like-minded circle jerk.

I don't know who Dave is...

This has nothing to do with free speech btw.. this is a privately owned forum.. and purposely misleading someone does not and wouldn't ever fall under free speech anyway... So what in the hells are you talking about?
