Ok...

I'm the first to admit that I'm a memory Junkie of the first degree - maybe I'm not as bad as others but I've gone through 6 kits of "D9's" of slightly varying flavors to play with. Recently I decided to start to hunt down some of the legendary Fatbody IC's - kinda got sparked by my running into a 3Dfx 5500 (SLI FTW!!!) - and just thought I'd look for one of the original OC fads of the DDR2 era.

Many IC's will clock well now but we all know back then Fatbody IC's were the stuff to get.

But my question is - is anyone even using them still??? - kinda wondering about the life expectancy on the IC's

I just bought an older 2 x 512 kit of Ballistix and I'm pretty sure they have Fatbody IC's - was trying to find a 2 gig kit but haven't seen any for sale in a long time - thats a lie - I've seen some Corsair XMS2 kits but I'm not looking to shell out $250 for a kit... :p

If you have a Fatbody kit still in use hit me up and let me know - it'd be great to know they're still working after like 2+ years or so

I'm looking forward to just playing with that kit i'm gonna get and see how far it goes

I got a total of 6gb's of fatbodies lying around that I stopped using since the summer. 2gb of D9DQW and 4gb of D9DQT and they both clock the same. Unlike the new d9's, these fatbodies can take volts and run 24/7 without degrading or going bad.

I think all those were snapped up & killed off by extreme OCers like on XS :p

They were incredibly good for running tight timings at good speeds, & scaled like mad, so most ate a ton of vdimm...

I got into DDR2 when D9GMH/GKX were big, which was a bit after the days of the infamous Fatbodies ICs.

i'm just kicking myself for not buying some really nice kits at the time for not too bad of money ($200-250 IIRC)
