Trying to install pctel winmodem on my new Shuttle AK31 motherboard. I get this message "a fatal error OE has occured at 0028:c0057624 in VXD shell (01) + 00000234. The current application will terminate." I get this message when I try to log on to internet or try to use modem diagnostics. I have two of these modems, and both work fine in my other computer. Have tried different drivers, but no luck. Am running Win98 currently. I know these modems are crappy, but I don't wanna buy a new modem if this isn't the problem. Please help!!

Something to do with that modem and or your current configuration or motherboard.

Might try different pci slot on motherboard. Sounds like modem has a conflict with another device. Disconnect your sound card and see if this makes a difference.

Well, I switched out the modem in different pci slots, but still no luck. Just found out I'm gonna get the winxp deal so might wait to see if a new os will fix it. I prolly should toss the modem. It's the same one that everyone with Andara barebones had problems with.
