Hello! I have a problem that I've been struggling with for a couple months now. When I play Warcraft 3, I receive a fatal error (windows window) after being booted from the game (FATAL ERROR cannot read memory (blah blah) at address (blah blah) the memory cannot be 'read'). Either that, or the game will simply crash and go back to windows. On a few occasions, the computer has rebooted itself while in the game, and just today it rebooted itself while I was working in windows. I've rebuilt the hard drive from scratch about 6 times now, the last two of which I've used a 3 layer wipe before formatting. I have directx 9.0a, Windows Xp pro corporate (same error with and without service pack 1). Hardware includes Asus A7N8X motherboard, Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro video card, Athlon XP 2400+, 512 MB PC 2700 DDR (I've moved the chip between the different DIMM slots to test as well). All the lastest drivers for the motherboard and video card are installed.

Please help!!!

Here's the exact error...

What kind of power supply? Everything rides on that component, so it's potentially very important.

edit: while you're at it, what brand of RAM too?

It's an Antec Truepower 430. Very new, as all of the parts are from Newegg. All of these problems just presented themselves at the same time...

Thanks! : )

Maybe a stupid question, but what version of WarIII do you have. (Not that I think thats the Problem but....)

I have an early version of WarIII and I can´t recognize the problem U are talking about:
It is running smooth on Win98se/XP1800+/OCed GF4MX420/512MB (Nanya+Kingston)
If you have 2 or more RAMs in your machine try taking one out and run the game, then do it again with the other module... at least it can confirm if it is the RAMs...

I only play on bnet, so it's the latest version (version 1.05).

I never play solo, so I don't know if I would have the same problem. I just upgraded my BIOS to 1003 for an Asus A7N8X, with the same error...

yo... this is kind of a simple suggestion... but... did you try reinstalling? I had a similar problem in WcIII where i'd get a bsod and then reboot. I figured out that an important wc file was corrupted while overclocking... so i just decided to reinstall. voila. no reboots any more ;)

Hope this helps.

also get simmilar fatal errors as dskaplan, but i also get this when play WCIII or QUAKE III i got random crashes tha cause my system to reboot. when i reboot i get a "the system has recovered from a serious error" message. With either BBCodes: "1000008e" or "1000007f" and occaisonally just an "a" or "50."

Here are my Comp Specs:

AMD 22000 XP
ASUS A7n8x
512 Corsair/Kingston DDR 2700
Radeon 9700 Pro
IBM 120GPx(?) 80gb
Lite On 52x cdrw

i though it was memory problem with kingston...so i changed to corsair but the same thing keeps happening.
