Commuters on the London Underground are being handed cards telling them they are a "fat, ugly human" by a group that claims to "hate and resent fat people".

NHS worker Kara Florish posted a message on social media after being handed a card while travelling on the Tube on Saturday.
She described the card, which berates overweight people for "wasting NHS money" as "hateful and cowardly".

the comments section is pretty good, surprised the pc police in England allowed this...

How does that waste "NHS" money? What is NHS for those that don't live in London?

Assuming this organization paid for the expenses, who cares? It's freedom of speech just like anything else. No different than the groups of religious nutbags that go to gaming conventions to hold up signs saying everyone is doomed to hell.

If you can't ignore it and have to post it on social media, guess what? I'm willing to place a wager that you're a fatass that is offended. Oh noez! :D I know it's a crazy concept, but when people hand out flyers and shit to all the people that walk by, you can refuse. I know, crazy right? They often look stupid with this "But... but... you were supposed to take one" look on their face.

It's a poorly worded sentence. NHS is the National Health Service. The group handing out the cards is berating the fat people for wasting NHS money/services.

That is fucking horribly worded... I was thinking NHS was the transportation services or something.

I don't see how that sentence is poorly worded. It seems pretty clear from it that the card "berates overweight people for 'wasting NHS money'" and she [NHS worker Kara Florish] describes the card as "hateful and cowardly." If the problem is solely "I don't know what NHS stands for," then fucking google London NHS for Christ's sake.

Seems like the card is accurate, fatties do cost health care tons (pun!) of money every year. They don't have to take the cards. While it may be in poor taste, it doesn't mean it is not true.

20% of the UK smokes. I don't see anyone handing cards to them about "wasting NHS money."

always thought the extra taxes on tobacco eased a significant burden on the NHS or equivalent.

According to statistics about 60% of the UK population is overweight or obese. I would want to target my funds at the largest population for greatest shaming effect or else I'd be wasting my money.

Right, but politically correct people don't care about facts at all, it's about feelings. No matter how self destructive or unsustainable it is.

It's just another example of an extreme, they should reel it back and be rational about it.

I do believe in Liberty, and you being able to eat and drink as much as you want. I eat shitty myself. I also believe in them being able to pass out such cards. And the freedom of someone not taking them, or telling them to 'fuck off' while pounding a cheeseburger in front of them, throwing the card in the trash. Freedom isn't one way you know.

The fact is that obesity has been on the rise for awhile and it is a major problem. Another fact is that it does increase health care costs that spread to people who are not obese. I'm sure there is a better way to get their message across, but they chose this one. Someone got their feelings hurt it looks like.

Obviously the profile pic was pretty small, but she didn't really look overweight at all.
