I have a friend who's 5'10" and 315lbs. He's reasonably athletic, so he moves pretty well. He's got the hugest freakin' calves I've ever seen. It's crazy. His calves are like 2 rottweiller torsos attached to knees. They have their own ribs.

Completely agreed. I got defined calves as well but I am not as heavy as him. Although I'd rather be skinny with skinny calves but unfortunately that's not an option.

You could always wear a backpack and put weights in it and walk around with it everyday that should help you build your calves :)

They don't have totally ripped calves. That means they wouldn't be fat. They just have bigger calves to support the weight as stated above.

Yeah, I used to weight 285, so I got big calves. Now I am down to 235, but since I got there by cycling, I still got the big calves.

Whether or not a person has ripped calves does not determine if they are fat. You can have ripped calves and be fat.

Calf size is largely genetic. It's one of the most stubborn muscle groups to grow for most people.

I think you're right. My entire immediate family has big calves. My whole family is also fat (besides me and a few others). I've been doing pretty intense calf workouts for the past 2 months because I feel left out with my normal size calves, but have seen little improvement. Must be a fat guy thing.

As for him being "reasonably athletic", he does 30-45 min of cardio every day and lifts some, just his diet is f-ing terrible.

Whether or not a person has ripped calves does not determine if they are fat. You can have ripped calves and be fat.

Ripped in weight lifting terms means you have low body fat, and can see the vascularity in your muscles. Being fat != ripped. You must have the term confused with large or muscular.

I'm 5'11 and 210 pounds. I look chubby not fat. My calves are huge, and ripped, as in, you can clearly define the muscle underneath. It just sucks that I run 3 miles a day, and still don't lose weight.. :( I've actually been gaiing weight because my muscles just keep developing while I only marginally look skinnier
