Fastwrite, on or off. Why?

Should fastwrite be left on or off? If so, why or why not? Just wondering if it will actually help.
 
The guy that wrote the Omega drivers says leave it off for max performance.
I can't find his reasoning at the moment.
 
Fastwrites off ensures maximum stability,with fastwrites on you will get a very small increase in performance,but at the same time some motherboards/ video card combos have problems(stability) with fastwrites on.


I prefer fastwrites off since you won`t notice it in gaming.
 
As Mem pointed out, if you're having stability problems many people recommend turning fast writes off. On my Asus P4PE I had to have fast writes off. On my Abit IC7-MAX3 I can leave fast writes on.
