Fasttrak66 prevents my O/C

Got a Piii 800 and Abit BH6 set up and I was happy to have it O/C at 896. But when I added the Fasttrak66, the system can't even get pass the RAID bios. Thought of perhaps adding a HSF to the Fasttrak chip but there aren't any real-estate to do that...

Any other ways to downclock the PCI bus or make the card less sensitive to the increase in bus speed?

Sorry to say, but generally speaking, IDE cards (as well as SCSI) as notorious for being sensitive to the FSB speed. Perhaps someone with success OCing with one of these could give you some pointers that may help you out.

My Promise Ultra66 (non-RAID) works fine as high as 41.5 MHz, but that's too fast for me anyway. I am currently running 38.3 MHz (FSB 115).

okay, you're running your FSB at 112x8 = 896. this leaves your pCI bus at 37mhz. there is a break-point where the pCI divisor is set from 1/3 to 1/4. if your cpu can make it past this point (125mhz?) then your PCI problems will go away!

so, try it without the promise card and see if it can go higher. then add it back in... you might need a bigger hs/fan combo.

tell us how it goes.
