fastest way to transfer files off a laptop to a storage device?

would the cofig be to get a 7200rpm ATA133 HD and put it in an firewire enclosure, connect to a laptop via firewire port?

i would like to transfer, back and forth, about 80 gigs of stuff.

Firewire would be pretty good. A cheaper alternative (but slower) might be 100Mbps
Fast Ethernet.

a good way would be the firewire or USB 2.0 if you'd like to take it on the road, but if you only need the storage when your at home (or office) than ethernet is a good alternative, just put the drive in a desktop and share it.
