Fastest Ti4200?

I am seeing that most of the 64MB versions have a memory clock of 250MHz (500), while the 128MB versions usually have one of 222 MHz (444). There are some, both 64MB and 128MB versions, that are listed as 256MHz, 275MHz, or even 300MHz (Asus). I have seen manufacturers and vendors overstate performance and specifications too many times to take them at face value, no questions asked.

Do any of these Ti4200's really perform consistently better than the others? If so, which are the best?

This may be wrong, but I hear the older 128 meg ones were the ones that had a lower memory clock.

In additional to that, I heard the newer sets, aka the 8x AGP revisions, for the 128 meg cards boosted the memory speed up to the same rate as the 64 meg cards.

The original 128mb ti4200's were clocked at 444mhz on the ram side. But the newer ti4200-8x ones are clocked up to 513mhz. As far as the best performing, that would be the one made by asus. It has bga memory and an 8 layer pcb. It overclocks better than most other ti4200's. I believe abit also made a "turbo" one that was similar to this.

The Asus ti 4200 is 250/275/350 (engine/memory/ramdac). Memory clock is "550mhz" but 512mhz effective.

No. It's kind of a special edition Ti4200. Comes with 3.3 ns RAM that's clocked at 550 Mhz (although 3.3 ns RAM is rated for 600 Mhz)... don't know where you came up with "512 Mhz effective" ... that's a regular Ti4200... this is not a regular one.

It's a nice Ti4200, but not as nice as my V8420S =) That one didn't have 8X AGP, but that's useless anyway. The GPU came clocked at 260 mhz, and the RAM at 550 Mhz. But the RAM was 3.3 ns, which is rated for 600 Mhz. The V8420S used the Ti4600's 8 layer PCB, instead of the 6 layer one for the Ti4200 and 4400. And it used the Ti4400's RAM. So it really wan't a Ti4200 at all. I had mine overclocked to 325/650 the entire time I had it, which is faster than a stock Ti4600 (300/650).

V8420 Delux would be the Asus turbo version. Unfortunately it runs about $150..might as well get a 9600 pro at that price.
