Fastest/Safest way to clean Eyeglasses?

What do you use to clean your eyeglasses without putting them in danger of being scratched? Are there products that are easy to carry around so you can clean them on the go?

Hmm, your shirt doesn't count. lol.

they have cleaning cloths, microfiber, that work well. also you can get specific eye glass cleaning spray in a small bottle, but i just use the cloth.

I use windex and a lint free cloth. In a pinch my shirt works but you said that doesn't count.

When I go to the eye doctor to get new glasses they always give me a small squirt bottle of stuff to use. If you really need it I'm sure they would sell it to you.

same...occasionally i'll use an alcohol wipe if they are really dirty.

NEVER use alcohol to clean you eyeglasses and cause them to break and crack, and it will dry your lenses out, not to mention removing the coating on them. Also you should not use you shirt, when you use your shirt the dirt is just grinded in it causing the little scrathces. The best thing is to use soap and water, and a soft clothor paper towel, or go to your local eyedoctor and buy the cleaner they use. We sell some for $1 and it lasts a month or longer depending on how much you use it.

when i had the 'profile' lenses without any coating, i didn't have to worry about scratches. i could use my shirt fine. but on my last pair i got the anti-reflective coating, which is supposedly easily scratched. i usually wash them in soap and water and dab them with a tissue.

Sharper Image Automatic Eyeglass Cleaner works great. I like it 'cuz it also cleans the area in and around the nosepieces really well.

Having oily skin, plus working as a diesel mechanic tought me a neat trick for cleaning
uber-dirty glasses. I like the above link device but my trick is cheaper.
A large water glass is filled with warm water and 5~10 drops of hand dish washing liquid.
Several pairs of glasses are left to soak as I shower. Then they are rinsed with warm tap
water and polished with a soft terry cloth. Works a charm. My scrips are 6 years old and
not one scratch.
