Fastest RPM a fan can have?

Now what is the quietest fast fan there is? I am not sure if that makes sense but I would like to know. I got a 5000 RPM fan that is just as quiet as a 3000 cpu fan. That is beside the point!

The quietest fan I've ever seen is a Hunter #23854. It's eerie... on low or even medium speed, you can see the blade rotating but you literally can NOT hear ANYTHING. I don't know exactly how many CFM's it pushes. You can check it out here. Might need some adaptation, a duct or something.

;)

Ok, ok... I know what you really meant. Check out the Papst 8412N/2GL 80mm fan. This, plus an Alpha 8045 or 8942, would probably be the quietest solution around. Remember, your system's only as quiet as its loudest part, and if your motherboard or video card have little fans, you'll still hear them... or your hard drive... or your power-supply fan... and so forth.

mechBgon, AI can't believe I clicked that link  :D

Intelman07, the quietest low RPM fans that I know of are the Panaflo's, model FBA08A12L to be precise, makes a great swap for the one in your average PS, hope this helps :)

This is probably the fastest spinning fan around.

I'm not sure how many CFM's it produces... what does 25,000 lbs of thrust translate to?

:D

Hehe! :D I'm serious about the silence aspect... ;)

Actually, as I re-read his question, he's asking about quiet + fast fans, not pure quiet. For that, I'm thinking a Panaflo H1A 80mm might be a good compromise, 40cfm at 32dB. Or a Hunter #23854 on the high-speed setting... :D

Actually most of that air will overheat your computer. You need one of these(picture link). Just duct the hot air outside and have all that cool air from the fan(which provides 80% of the thrust) cool many computers. Just turning that fan by hand will move just as much air as a compter fan. They are just a little noisey at full speed though.;) info link BTW, the max rpm is ~14,400.

I try to focus on cfm and sound production (db) instead of rpms. I don't care what the rpms are, actually.

YS Tech adjustable-rpm 80mm. You can dial it from 10 to 40 cfm on the fly. Link :D

I just threw this fan on my AX-478 (and I really like it). At low temps it is almost silent and it isn't bad at the highest speed the thermistor sets it at in my system (with the thermistor taped to the bottom of the heatsink (next to the heatspreader of the P4). It goes from 1.6k to 3.3k in my system, but you can also use the other dongle and manually adjust it to whatever (up to 4800rpm, which is kinda loud). Here is the kicker though, at 1300rpm it puts out 20.55cfm, but at 4800 it puts out 75.7cfm.

Here is the link.
