. I think storagereview.com has tests of each company's top line products. From the reviews that I've seen any given test point is unlikely to vary by much more than 10% over the same generation drives from the top mfrs. SR has Hitachi at top slot in the 7200rpm field but I doubt that anyone would really notice the diff in day to day use.
. Given that, I would then give my money to those mfrs that still back their drives with 3yr warranties. That narrows things down to WD, Samsung and the Seagate 7200.7Plus. The WD and Samsung outperform the Seagate by a tad. Seagate is the quietest. Up to you.
