Fastest free shipping Amazon order ever? (Update: 37hrs)

I placed an order on Wednesday night (40lbs worth of housewares) using free shipping and it's on the truck for delivery today. That's insane, I've ordered from them before and it usually takes a week just to ship, and then UPS lets it sit around for a couple days too. In fact I looked up the last order I placed and it took 14 days. Crazy.

Edit: Was delivered while I was writing this. Total time from order to doorstep: 37hrs 14minutes.

I ordered stuff on December 12th, projected to arrive today.

I called around the 20th and they said it had shipped on the 17th.

However, today the site says it was shipped overnight YESTERDAY.

All items I ordered had "usually ships in 24 hours".

Never again will I buy something from Amazon.com if I need it in a timely manner.

If you go with Super Saver Shipping, they hold it an additional 5 days. Seriously, read the fine print on it, the 24 hour thing doesn't apply 🙁...I'm still waiting on my nice new Logitech G5 mouse that I ordered oh...9 days ago.

I don't place "Free Super Saver Shipping" orders (whatever it's called) with Amazon if I need it within two weeks. OP got lucky!

I once ordered some books from them. All items were in stock when the order was made. Took the free shipping and they gave me an estimated ship date of 3 weeks later. I didn't need the books right away, so I went ahead and made the purchase. Well about 5 weeks later I get an e-mail saying there was trouble processing my request and I could wait 2 more weeks or cancel now. So I figured what's 2 more weeks and waiting. I eventually got 2 of the 5 books I ordered and they cancelled the others. How nice of them *blah*.

On the flip side, I ordered a bunch of stuff for Christmas from there and everything came on time, so I am happy with them again...for the moment.

amazon probably has just one super saver truck at their warehouse. if you pick free shipping, your package has to wait in line while that one truck drives back and forth to the ups facility. probably a 2 week long queue now.

i had that once. some person at hot deals posted about amazon having the microsoft bluetooth optical desktop for sale, so i ordered that night and it came in the morning 2 days later...

I ordered my book from Amazon using the super saver shipping on 12-13-05. I received the book on 12-15-05.

Granted, it came from Indiana to Chicago, but considering it's free shipping, plus they divvied up my order so it'd arrive in time - I'd have to say, I was impressed!

The fastest shipping I experienced was back in the day when buy.com first came into business. It actaully happened multiple times, I would place an order on Tuesday afternoon and the product would be there Wednesday- and no, it wasn't expedited shipping at all. Just normal ground, it was really unbelieveable to me.
