After hearing all the horror stories, I ordered DSL last Thursday, got the gateway today and am up and running!!!!!
Good job, Directvdsl

Of course, there was a problem that took a little while to solve but it only turned out to be a bad cat5 cable which they supplied!!!!

Now, give me some good sites to try!!

Thanks

For me my DSL nightmare wasn't the install but the upkeep. I had it go down for 6 weeks once, not to mention many spot 1-3 day outages. Even after calling Hell Atlantic for 2 weeks straight they still couldn't figure it out and had customer satisfaction call me up to ask me how I liked their quick resolution to my problem.

I'm sure things are better now though. I still have a bitter taste in my mouth because of it.

Enjoy the BB. Once you have it, you'll never willingly go back to dial up.

Ugh, DirecTV dsl. Beware when you are trying to cancel the service, they will give you the run around. It took me a whole 3 months to get them to cancel my service.

DirectDSL... so far so good and nothing bad to say!

I just canceled but the terms are so sweet that I will order their service again once I move into my new house.

Now... if I only knew if I can get DSL where I am moving... I am scared... very scared!

I got DirectvDSL maybe 2 months ago. I've had one outage, about 4 hours. Other then that the speeds are great (732/100). I can't complain about that since Verizon caps at 768/128 (for non-verizon providers). The gateway is great since it doesn't link to one MAC address.

how does that beat Goosemaster?

Cable process usually is much easier than DSL assuming you have cable already running to your house. And my post was in rebuttal to the original poster.

Running 750/250 according to tests. Not too shabby !!!!

Amazed at Thursday to Tuesday service only because they say 6-8 weeks possible !!!

Airborn probably slowed the service down also. Fat chick threw (really) the pkg at my door, didnt ring bell or knock. Must have trained at UPS.

Even my 450 M Compac laptop seems like a speed demon!!!

Actually, I built a pc for a family friend and he had Verizon DSL installed in 2 days....Depends on where you live...

Nothing wrong with it.

I just wanted to pint out that even though they are nation-wide companies, service is still location-dependant
