I currently have an ASUS A7V266-E with an Athlon 1900+ (1.6GHz) installed. I was thinking about trying to squeeze a bit more usable time out of this great board by installing a faster CPU. I can't seem to find any specific info on the ASUS website as to what is the fastest CPU supported by the A7V266-E, it only states "Socket A for AMD® Athlon XP / Athlon / Duron 550MHz ~ 1.4GHz+ CPU". Anyone have any information that would help me out? Thanks.

If you would have looked for the newest BIOS you would have noticed support for XP2600+ (266 bus) cpu.

BIOS code A7V266-E BIOS 1011

Did you mean something like this page at the ASUS site? The link won't go directly to the page but click in the circle next to the word Motherboard Name on the top left, then the page refreshes and near the top there is a blank for you to choose the chipset and one for the MB model. Takes you right to a table listing all cpu's and their respective (required) BIOS levels. The table also shows that you need revision 1.07 of this board for it to work. And be aware that there are two versions of the 2600+; 266 and 333. You can only use the 266.
