fastest CPU for an ABIT BH6???

I don't know what the fastest is, But I have a CeleronII 667 running at 1000MHz, MSI slocket, SS BIOS (motherboard ver. 1.01), cheap RAM, Alpha heatsink with Delta fan.

The multiplier is set by the processor, not the motherboard. I have seen many reports of people running PIII 850s in the BH6. I chose the cheap was out, a Celeron 566@850 for about $75 at todays prices. It gives about PIII 700 performance at 1/2 the price or a 700. I would hate to buy a PIII 850, then have the BH6 fry because it can't supply the amount of current needed by these fast processors. You would have an expensive processor (about $200 with adapter) that worked as well as a $80 Duron. For the same $200 you could get the Duron and a "modern" motherboard with fast 4X AGP, 100ATA drives etc. Rick

I have two bh6's running 633cels@950 with no problems.I think the slot 1 p3 1 gigahertz cpu will run on this board(the 100mhz model).Un overclocked, that would be the fastest cpu for the bh6,unless I am mistaken.

I'm looking at getting a 900 FC with slot 1 adapter. It would be 9x100mhz. Am I to understand that the bh6 could not run at 9x speed?

A BH6 with the newest bios flash has multipliers up to 12. I jus put a Celery 733 @ 915 on one. 11x83. Hope this helps .

THANKS-JEK

If it's an older ver1.0x BH6, I would guess around 800mhz, unless you use a slotket adapter with it's own VRM8.4. The original BH6's had current supply
problems with CuMines. That said, I put a 650mhz CuMine Slot1 in mine at 1.7v
& it runs fine! Be sure to use SS bios...
