I just ran a 3dMark on a 3500+ 939 2.2ghz and on a 3.2C 800. The cpu scores were 176 AMD and 170 Intel.

Consider AMD is priced a lot more with a lot less frequency. Should we choose Intel?

3dmark? u cant compare frequency between each other. it just proves that amd has more processing power per MHz then intel. also, look at the benchmarks to get the facts straight. an amd 3500+ is faster then any comparable intel 3.5ghz. also, its more appropriate to compare the 3500+ wtih intel's prescott for socket 775.

Why can't you compare frequency? I ran it on two different systems. And how does it have more processing power?

The cpu scores are with all rendering and everything done by the cpu. In many benchmarks ppl look at situations when the graphics card handles the rendering and the cpu only does part of the job of running the game, so it may be different. Still interesting results though.

Interesting indeed. My friend was betting me the 3500+ would kill the 3.2. I said I don't know about that. It might beat the Intel in games but hardcore horsepower, I'd go with Intel.

Even though Intel lost, it was by 6 points. The 3.2c is not that new, its kind of mid range now, and the 3500+ just got out there, with the new socket and everything. So indeed, very interesting results.

the socket 939 amd also beats intel in every single category, not just games. believe it or not, amd now surpasses intel on encoding. dont get me wrong, but i like intel also, but they are currently lagging behind and amd gives much better price for performance cpu's then intel. if you want benchmarks, go here. also, i dont think you can base your idea of intel supremacy over one simple benchmark. i would also like to see how the 64-bit prescotts performs when they come out. also, futuremark programs like cpumark and 3dmark arent known for their exact scores, thats y i recommend you use other programs to benchmark the systems.

Wow... GhandiInstinct you must be very ignorant or very stupid to even consider saying a 3.2 is better than a 3500+.

Depends on what your'e going to use your box for.

Interesting note that Ghandi mentioned price difference between the two.

Price/performance ratio P4 Northwoods are great for heavy multi-tasking digital content creation and editing. (hint: HT and dual channel memory). Imagine buying cheap 2.8C clocked at 3500Ghz on air and default voltage.

Dual-channel FX53 on 939 is way too expensive. But I got one for my gaming box :)

Again, depends on what you use it for and PRICE/performance ratio.
