Can anyone recommend a video card that is the coolest, fastest running video card
for one of those shuttle XPC which already has AMD 3000/ 7200rpm HD/ DVD burner/ TV card in there?

Fast and cool running don't go together with video cards this generation, sorry. The GT reaches mid 80s under load, the x800s at mid 70s aren't much cooler. And if you are running a shuttle a 2 slot cooler is probably not an option, if it is the 6800 U isn't that hot.

R9600 Non Pro has no fan and the heat sink barely heats up during load.

Actually any 9600 series will probably run pretty cool

X800Pro or 6800GT would probably be the best bet.
Don't go too high as heat will increase even more.

6800GT may be cooler than X800Pro (cannot truely tell, depends on where temp is read from) but it seems to not get too hot.
Anandtech had load temps for 6800 Ultras from 50 to 70's.

How effective the card's cooler is at keeping the die temperature low has nothing to do with how much heat the card is generating if it is all simply being dumped back into the case.

Here is how much heat these cards are generating: Power Consumption

6800U: 110W
X800XT: 93W
9800XT: 92W
FX5950: 94W

OMG... General where are you getting this stuff from. YOure always posting crap like this. Anandtech just listed temps for 2 ULTRAS which mean they run hotter...ok! And they maxed out aroun 60C!! How in the hell is a GT going to be hotter than that... albeit might be close because of the one slotter.

I would go with the GT.

hmm...........now I am still confused........

How about this.........will 9800pro get adequate cooling in xpc w/out extra slot fan or modification of any kind? (the other slot will be occupied w/ TV card)

probibly a 9600XT, it takes up very little wattage and still proforms nicely. Are you looking to run games with all the eye candy on? and want this card to last a long time? or just a simple upgrade?

Ultras are a 2 slot solution, not viable in a SFF PC. Anand's ultra ran at 67 C under load in a large desktop; its going to be a few degrees hotter in a SFF.

Didn't ackmed or somebody link you to a half-dozen threads reporting that GTs get to 80s load?

Edit: Looks like he did.

Here's 3 people reporting mid 80s C under load. You might want to do your research before accusing others of posting crap. Or at the very least own one of the cards.

I did do my homework. Yeah some peole are reporting temps at 80C load but then you have to wonder about thier ambient temperature. Im not sure if anand said but i would be willing to bet that its around 65F for ambient room temp. DUH your going to get 80C load temps if there at home, some of which probably cooking around 80F.

I know that the ultra is not viable in the SFF, i was recommending the GT.
I know what im talking about i did my homework.

I really don't need super duper video card....but if the difference are only few dollars, I'd like to get a faster card. I want to be able to play UT4/ FarCry w/ 1280X1024. (yeap..I don't need 1600X1200, I only have 18" LCD)
