Define fast.
0-60, 1/4, passing speed acceleration? There's different types of "fast". AWD cars typically launch better and have 0-60 times but will typically be slower in 1/4 speeds.
I would probably say:
Under 20k = SRT-4
Under 25k(ok 25,250) = Mustang GT
Under 30K = Probably the Mustang still
Under 35k = WRX Sti
0-60 time.
That would then be "What's the quickest", not "fastest".![]()

I disagree. A new SRT4 will school a beatup STi

0-100 FTW.

Ah, yes, because we frequently find ourselves tearing through one lane dirt roads in the forest as quickly as we can, and rarely accelerate from 0-60 on normal streets...![]()

supercharged 650 hp f-body
Mustang GT for under $25K? That might be pushing it, and with no options. But point taken nonethelessOriginally posted by: Tom
For new cars you can actually buy for these prices..
under 20k..Chevy Cobalt SS supercharged.
under 25k Mustang GT, or maybe Mazdaspeed3.
under 30k Pontiac GTO
under 35k GTO or STI.

EDIT And interior quality. F-bodies are cheap and fast, but I wanted a decent quality car other than the powertrain, thus didn't get an f-body![]()

is the 1998 m3 reliable? is $18k good for a convertible m3 with 42k miles on it?
Same chassis/driveline as what? Not the F-Body. And while I agree they are sleek and nice, they can't take a turn worth a sh!t.Originally posted by: LordMorpheus

Not true. Buy a lincoln Mk VII.
Same chassis driveline, but with a fancy interior.
Also much prettier on the outside.

REMEMBER THIS IS FOR NEW CARS.
I wish I could represent my SRT-4 but I cant.
under 20k Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged
under 25k Mustang GT
under 30k Evo RS INSURANCE!!!
under 35k Evo MR or STI INSURANCE!!!
Mazdaspeed 3 doesnt live up to the hype when they are hitting low 14's and Mustangs are hitting mid 13's
$25K for a new WRX is fine, esp the Limited, but insurance is KILLER on all Impreza's.Originally posted by: wasssup
Good thread, kind of reaffirms the fact that the WRX is the car to buy.
Only thing holding me back is their crappy resale value...have you seen the going rate for a 4 year old WRX? It's going for like $10-12k. Problem is, it's hard to find one that hasn't been modded (modders usually return the car back to stock when they sell it, so it's hard to tell if it's been modded in its past or not).
Blah. $25k for a new WRX is just crazy though.

Um, no. No ZO6 is under $20K. And I don't think you can get ANY C5 Vette for under $20K. Please don't open your mouth if you don't know what you're talking about.Originally posted by: Naustica

You have to stick with new because if we go by used, Corvette would be faster than any of the above and you can get high mileage used C5 Z06 for under 20k.
