Hey all,
I'm trying to find out what the best non-Raptor system hard drive would be.. Up till now I've been using one hard drive with two partitions - one for system and one for data. I was thinking of doing the same thing with a new 500gb hdd. But..
Isn't a totally separate disk for the system faster than a separate partition for general use?
Would things like games run faster if installed on a totally separate disk?
Keep in mind I don't want to fork out the premium for a Raptor.
I'm thinking anything over 160gb for the system disk would be a huge waste. However, none of the 160gb disks or lower have 16mb caches, only 8mb. I've heard this doesn't make much difference anyway... I also remember reading an article somewhere that you should look for a specific amount of platters for a system disk to maximise speed, but can't find this article again.
Should I just choose any old 160gb disk and be done with it? Or can a storage genius here offer some good info?
Cheers.
