faster ram for notebook computers?

my dads lookin to improve the performance of his notebook and was wondering about a ram upgrade...

i know nothing about notebooks... do they use the same kind of ram as normal computers? or what?
he has a Toshiba Satellite 4030 CBT if that helps... thanks!

Goto kingston.com or crucial.com. Then use they memory guide and find out what kind of memory it uses. Then order the memory from kingston/crucial or your prefered shop.
