Faster Alt Tabbing

I am using Windows 7 64 bit and have used Vista 64 bit as well before but sometimes alt tabbing is way to slow. Not as slow as Windows XP but still to slow.

When I alt tab out of a game like, Bioshock, it takes like 5 to 15 seconds going back into the game sometimes takes even longer. Is there anyway to speed them up ? I like to go back to my windows desktop and to my game again quickly if possible. My current system has 8 GB of ram. It is only a Dual core though but the main OS and game Hard Drive is a older 150 GB 10,000 rpm Raptor. Doubt more ram would help. Is there any Windows 7 64 bit settings I can tweak to make Alt Tabbing and going back into my games almost instant? If not at least a little faster? If not what can I do to make it faster then? What do I have to buy?

Nevermind I got alt tabbing and going back into games down to 1 second or less now! Very happy!

Anything to say that might help others in the future with the problem. This is a help forum you know.

AFAIK its a driver problem. takes me up to 40 secs on nvidia 186.18 alt-tabbing back to WoW....needless to say its annoying 🙂

That could be. I used to have a nVidia card and it seemed to take a while to Atl-Tab out of GTA IV. I switched videocards to the one in my sig at the same time I stepped up to 8GB of RAM so I just attributed the speed up to the RAM as opposed to the drivers being totally different. Interesting.

There a way around that and my solution was to run all games full screen in a window without borders. Makes alt tabbing in and out of games instant!
